Putt-ering around!

GSO Poster‘Tis the season for fundraisers!  And as I recover from my stiletto-clad dash down Water St. for The Clothes Closet, I look forward to the next good cause on the docket:

The Germain St. Open for the Children’s Wish Foundation.  This Saturday, September 26th.

I am on the organising committee for this event and, in its 16th year, this year promises to be the best yet!  To mark the 25th anniversary of the Children’s Wish Foundation, we are celebrating by making the event larger and moving all the holes closer together again.  We increased the number of teams allowed to 25 (almost double) and more holes have been added (12 total).

If this is the first time you have heard of the event, the Germain St. Open is an urban miniature golf tournament.  The mini-golf holes are created in homes and businesses in the uptown (I hosted a Vegas themed hole last year in my apartment!) and teams of four do the circuit on Saturday afternoon.  Following the friendly competition and free beverages, teams gather back at O’Leary’s Pub (headquarters) for entertainment, pizza and a live auction of fabulous donated items!

This is one of the best fundraising events I have ever attended or been involved with, and I have done quite a few.  It is definitely worth the 50$/person fundraising minimum!  Each year the event raises over $10 000 for the Wish Foundation.  There are prizes for the top fundraising team, the best hole and, this year, the best team theme!

There aren’t many spots left (if any by now), so get to the website www.germainstreetopen.com asap!  And if you can’t get into the fun as a golfer, please come out to O’Leary’s at 5pm on Saturday to take part in the live auction and live entertainment!
