Fabulously Fulfilling Fr… Saturday.

Ok, ok, so id doesn’t rhyme.  D’ah well!  It was still a fabulous day…  and a busy one at that!

My Saturday morning started at 6:15am (an ungodly hour for the weekend), when my temporary roommate and I had to get up, shower and eat before the volunteers arrived at 7:30.  My car was already packed to the ceiling with stuff, and I scrambled around getting the face painting, float and accessories together for the sale.  We then packed both her car and Jen’s car, and they both got to the park by 7:45.  Everything went so smoothly, one car after the other arrived in perfect succession for loading (it took 10 car/truck loads to get the stuff to the square) and everything was in the park by 8:15!  The sale was already in full swing and we had an amazing crowd.

The face painting and BBQ were well received and all three of the K100, The Wave & Country 94 cruisers announced us all day and came to check out the sale.  We sold over half of the merchandise that was donated, everyone got great deals and we raised over $900 for the St. Joe’s Hospital Foundation!  On top of that, the leftovers went to great charities (Salvation Army, First Steps, Big Brothers/Big Sisters & Community Living).  🙂

After the Yard Sale was all done, I had a bit of rest and then donned my bright orange Theatre on the Edgeshirt for an evening tending bar at IMPROVAGANZA!  It was a great night of improv.  It started with the MP3 experience, an activity where the audience listens to an MP3 file and does whatever it says, which I jumped in on for the group photo and danced my worst dance in the corner!  I served drinks at first intermission (lots of water after the crowd got involved in the experiment) and then got to watch the best student improv group I have ever seen, Perpetual Freefall (from Saint John High) – so funny.   There was a second intermission before the main event of Saint John’s Improv Corp!  Fabulous!

The evening wrapped up, the money counted, I got invited out with the cast of the Improv Corp to the newly opened Big Tide Brewing Company on Princess St.  Wow!  What a fantastic space!  I will dedicate a blog entirely to this new space, but wanted to mention it here and to recommend trying the sweet potato poutine…  very interesting taste combination.

What a great feeling to spend a day with friends, teammates and to help out the community!

Will you be able to use that basket we donated? Do you still need something from me? 🙂
