Je suis prest, so let’s go!

Je suis prest-I am ready- is the Fraser family (Scottish clan) motto.  It is also the name of the newest boutique in Saint John, created and run by Kiera Fraser and her family.  SO GREAT!

Found on the second floor of Brunswick Square, it is an oasis of hand-picked clothing (and accessories) for women by predominantly Canadian designers.  Kiera’s taste is impeccable, from wonderfully tailored shirts & pants to high-quality casual wear (jeans and peasant dresses).  I have never tried on so many things that I liked -and that fit- in one sitting!  I could have spent hours, and hundreds of dollars, in the store…  thank goodness layaway will be up and running this week.

The layout and the decor is also something to see.  The focal point o is a fireplace (mirrored insert) & mantle in the centre of the store with two leather wing-back chairs (I can only assume for the men we women will drag in against their will), as well as nearly floor to ceiling mirrors along the back wall.  The small details are what I appreciated most, though, including beautifully detailed metal hangers and wrought iron design mannequins that sit in the corners.

In a world of box/chain stores and big brand name designs (anyone else tired of reading Bench on the backs of everyone’s collars?), this store really stands out.  It is a store that everyone needs to experience and support, so that it not only becomes a fixture here, but that Saint John is seen more and more as a place that supports local businesses!

I guess I’m not the only one quite taken by the hangers. Isn’t it funny what a difference little details can make?
